Experience of working for a charity supporting vulnerable families, combined with a deep interest in psychology led Susan to pursue a career in counselling. After a rigorous five year training course she qualified with a Post Graduate Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Susan offers individual therapy to adults and has spent many years working with a wide range of clients presenting with a variety of issues.  In addition to private practice, her experience includes working for a counselling organisation as part of the assessment team, as well as providing both open ended counselling and short term therapy for those with GP referrals. She works with a range of issues, and specialist areas include anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, relationship issues, stress, somatic illness, postnatal depression, loss and bereavement.

She has an open and empathetic approach, and offers a safe and non-judgmental environment where difficult feelings can be thought about together and past and present experiences can be explored in order to identify what is causing the problem.  This type of therapy facilitates increased self-awareness and with this comes the ability to challenge unwanted behaviours and make positive changes. Sometimes the thought of coming to counselling can feel like a big step, but once clients have had the chance to talk and offload they often comment on their feelings of lightness and relief and sense of emotional well being.
